Every year on my April birthday...the gift I ask from my
two children is to pose for portraits...
WITHOUT COMPLAINING!
This year, they were both home for Mother's Day weekend.
I checked the weather the night before and it looked beautiful.
Perfect time to fulfill my birthday gift.
That's when the groaning started.
GRRRRRRRR!!!
I had to remind them
NO CRABBING ALLOWED!
Fortunately, they shaped up during the photo shoot.
As I've said many times in my blog...my kids like to
PILE on each other.
Mark is 20 and Lindsay is 22.
I love them SOOOOO much!
I like to convert a few to black and white.
They made my Mother's Day
HAPPY!
They even agreed to climb our local sled hill so I could
test shot these photos:
They were practice for an evening shoot I had booked
to try doing sunset silhouettes.
I LOVE how these turned out and hope you'll try it too!
Jaymi shared her tips about silhouettes
here. and I wanted to try it myself.
What FUN!!
I ended up having THREE photo shoots on Mother's Day.
We went over to visit my dear Mother-in-law
and my grand niece Fiona was visiting.
I ran home to get my camera and a couple cute outfits
I picked up recently at thrift stores and photographed
this adorable baby in Mom's backyard.
Mom's neighbor saw me with the camera and offered
up her amazing backyard with flowers and
white iron furniture.
Holy HECK! I was in portrait heaven!
Neighbor Jackie said I could come back any time to use
her backyard.
I WILL be back!
I love how when we stood Fiona in the ivy,
she thought it felt strange and kept lifting her feet....
SOOOOOO CUTE!
Yep, I was a bit pooped after three photo shoots in one day,
but I was pampered with pancakes for breakfast...my daughter's
world famous recipe.
I tried to make them once, but they didn't taste as yummy.
"That's because I add a special secret ingredient," Lindsay said.
On Mother's Day she finally shared the secret ingredient.
"I add LOVE, Mom," she said. "Love ALWAYS makes things better!"
Hope all the moms had a wonderful Mother's Day like I did!
GREAT shots!!! I especially love the ones taken by the hill. And yes, I can't think of a better mother's day gift than kids posing without complaining.. have to remember that on myself..
ReplyDeleteGoodness! Where to start...
ReplyDeleteHappy (belated) Mommy's Day! I ADORE the all these shots, but especially the up on the hill, & the silhouettes! AMAZING.
Plus the little one captures are too sweet! That little ruffle dress, what a fab find!
Have a blessed weekend!
Love to see a good picture especially a family portrait..
ReplyDeleteNice work and beautiful picture...
These are all so great! Love them all. What a great Mother's Day idea...no complaining!
ReplyDeleteOh what a fun day you had - and it shows in these delightful shots. Thank you for sharing them on this Sweet Shot Tuesday! :)
ReplyDeleteWell you got some AMAZING shots. I know they were pleased.
ReplyDeleteOne day they will treasure each one.
Those were adorable shots of your niece.
Glad you got some pampering too.
Thank you for joining in Photo Feedback. I love the silhouettes. I think you did a fantastic job. The mid jump capture is just perfect. My only suggestion would be to maybe clean up the horizon a bit with the clone tool. I know the trees are there, but it is a tad distracting from the perfect pose you captured. The sky is absolutely gorgeous. I think this is a definite keeper and print shot. :)
ReplyDeleteyour kids are so beautiful! you took some amazing photographs of them. maybe now they groan but later in their lives they gonna cherish every single one!
ReplyDeletehave a great day!
What a sweet thing to do each year - I'll have to remember that for when my kids get older. And I love the silhouettes.

My favorites are of the couple. Love the back to back one!
ReplyDeleteThe silhouette you submitted for photo feedback is very nice! My only suggestion would be to brighten just the sky and adjust the vibrancy or saturation. I think it would really make your girls stand out. I love the composition on this one! You captured them at the perfect time!
ReplyDeleteWhat a great idea for a gift Jill! You did a wonderful job, as usual!
